Join Us
Welcome to Horsehay Amateur Dramatic Society,
Thank you for your interest in the Society. Here you’ll find some useful information about joining us. We’re a friendly Society and anyone is welcome to join.
What do we do?
At HADS we perform three plays a year (we don’t stage musicals or pantomimes) in February, May and October. The following year’s production is decided at each AGM, usually held in June or July. Members wishing to direct put forward the play they would like to perform. If there are more than three members who wish to direct, then the membership vote on the plays they would like to see performed. Each member is eligible to vote as long as they have been a member before the closing night of the previous May play.
How and when do we rehearse?
We rehearse every Tuesday and Thursday night from 7.30pm to 10pm at Horsehay Village Hall. The rehearsal period is usually about 12-14 weeks. We tend to have a summer break from the end of the May play until the start of rehearsals for the October play in late July.
What can you get involved in?
Currently, we have just over 30 members in the Society. Not all want to act, there’s lots to get involved with, from set building, props, prompt, Front of House to lights and sound. Anyone is welcome to be a member.
How do you join?
You are more than welcome to come to a rehearsal one night to meet us and see what we’re about. There you can fill out a membership form. The annual cost of membership is £20, which covers you under our insurance whilst working on and around the stage. If our production is already in rehearsals and both acting and backstage roles have been filled, then please consider getting involved with Front of House, we’re always in need of members to help! We’ll also email to you (or give a paper copy if you’re not on email) our Health and Safety policy, Casting Guidelines and Constitution.
If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us, Edward (Society President): eedavies@talktalk.net
